Children’s
treatment

dentysta dla dzieci opole

At our dental office, we treat even the youngest children, already from the first tooth!

Tooth decay grows much faster in deciduous and newly erupted permanent teeth than it does in adult teeth because of lesser mineralization (hardness) levels of the tooth tissues. There is also a greater risk of root canal treatment as the pulp cavity, containing nerves and blood vessels, is larger than in mature teeth.

It should also be noted that children’s manual skills are not yet as well developed as in adults, which means children are more likely to insufficiently brush the hard-to-reach areas, e.g. between the contact areas of the teeth. All in all, every child’s dental checkups should be done every three months in order to prevent dental caries and treat its symptoms as early as possible.

Fluoride treatment (varnishing) and sealing (for permanent teeth), described in more detail on our Hygiene and Prevention page, are helpful in prevention of tooth decay. If tooth decay has already developed, we place colourful or white light-cure fillings in deciduous teeth, and if the pulp has become inflamed, we remove the pulp tissue or carry out root canal treatment. As a last resort, when the tooth is very badly damaged, only a root remained in the gums, or when the tooth is wobbly, we perform extraction i.e. removal of the involved tooth. The procedure is always done under anaesthesia delivered, depending on the situation, by one of the following methods: surface anaesthesia (flavoured gel), infiltration anaesthesia, or conduction anaesthesia.
